a nothing post

I’ve logged in almost every day to post but once I get to this blank screen, I don’t know what I want to say. Do I write one of those sappy posts about how amazing it is to finally have our little girl? Or do I annoyingly write about how freaking hard a newborn is? No one wants to hear any of that crap…and frankly I don’t really want to write it. And I don’t really want this to become a blog only about Sweetness.

So instead I’ll write about something I am all too familiar writing about…doctor’s appointments! I have my 6 week post partum on Thursday. I’m not really looking forward to yet another cervix check. And I know I’m going to have to fight him on the whole birth control thing but I figure since I was off the pill for 2.5 years and all I ever managed were two chemical pregnancies, there’s no real point in wasting the money. I do plan on asking him more about testing for the breast cancer gene. I posted awhile back that my aunt tested positive for both BRCA1 and 2. I still don’t know if I want to get tested but at least I’m now at the point where I can start gathering some information. I think getting tested would be the responsible thing to do, especially if we decide to go through fertility treatments again, but being responsible is no fun. It is much more my style to put my head in the sand and let my indecision make my decisions. I am SOOO good at that.

So this is my nothing post. I’m still trying to read everybody but don’t always have the time (or a free hand) to comment, but I’m always thinking of everyone!!!

Glad you’re still around. 🙂Getting info about the testing is a good idea. I had my first mammogram last year for similar reasons, and it sucked. But at least now I have a baseline to go off of. Not a bad idea to be proactive, right?Hope you’re enjoying your sweetness! Even in the middle of the night when you are begging her to stop crying. And if you’re not up in the middle of the night- I’m jealous!

Oooh yay, my 6-week is tomorrow, and I’d completely forgotten about the cervix check. crap. oh well. I bet sweetness has settled in and hope she’s starting to give you the cutest little smiles, just like her birthday buddy Maria.

All I can say at this point is that I totally hear you on newborns. It is so hard to care for them but they are so very amazing. Hope your appointment goes well!

Hope your appointment goes good. I think it’s good to be proactive at least to a point on the breast cancer stuff too. At least a mammogram in the future to get a baseline with careful following.

  5. Jen replied:

Hehe. You can always accept a paper prescription for birth control pills and never fill it. I think that is what I am going to do. I am always happy to hear about the Sweetness.

I took the Rx for the pill out of horrifed politeness at the urban-legend-telling OB saying “I wouldn’t be the first to get spontaneously knocked up after IVF”.Oh, whatever. A free baby? Bring it on!J

I have a hard time posting and baby isn’t even here yet. I agree about the BCPs. What’s the point? If I didn’t get pregnant after 6 years of no birth control and trying why should I be worried? I don’t know if I would want to have the breast cancer testing…but I agree it is a good thing to do.

  8. Rebecca replied:

Hey, if you want to bitch about how hard a newborn is, go ahead…it’s really hard. Good luck with the BCRA testing…I am fascinated by that…it’s just so good to know. Good luck.

  9. sara replied:

Can’t believe you already have your 6 week post partum checkup – how crazy is that? I think anytime you can get any info on something that might be a concern is a great idea. Hope the little one is doing great and I always love hearing your updates whether they’re about new baby stuff or appointments or anything so keep them coming! ((hugs))

Would you like to spend some time together? We could go for a coffee or something with our little ones. I live in Pentagon City now. Since we are still waiting for our visas…
